121.  Murshidabad (Chandernagor) Mint, Silver, Rupee, in the name of Shah Alam II, AH 1185/12, Jasmine Flower type (cf KM# 28). Thick legend, placement of flower is different, counter-marks on edge, About Very Fine, Rare.

Estimate: Rs. 3,000-3,500

In 1738, Dupleix, the then French Governor of Chandrenagor obtained coining rights. These coins are rare as they were minted for a very short period.

128.  Bengal Presidency, Muhammadabad Banaras Mint, Gold, Mohur, in the name of Shah Alam II, AH 1202/30, (KM# 40). Daroga’s mark of flower on rev. Mint State, Rare in this condition.

129.  Princep’s Contract Coins, Copper (2), ½ Anna, in the name of Shah Alam II, plain edge, AH 1195/22, (AD 1780-1784), struck at Falta (Fulta) Mint (KM# 126-127); different dies used, in one the stars touch the bottom edge of the coin in the other the stars at the bottom are in the center. Very Fine+, Rare. (2)

136.  Bombay Presidency, Bronze (4), Proofs, milled coinage, 2 Pice or 8 Reas, 1-½ Pice or 6 Reas, Pice or 4 Reas and ½ Pice 2 Reas, 1791; English minting, struck at French Ordinary Court, London, oblique milling (KM# 196, 195, 193 and 192). Nice dark tone, Proof, Mint State, Extremely Rare. (4)

137.  Bombay Presidency, Copper Pattern for gold and silver coinage, 1828, by Robert Gordon, 2nd Battalion Bombay Artillery, (transferred to the Mint for duty as a die sinker), plain edge, design prepared at the Bombay mint but was not approved for circulation. Star & Garter design, with the garter inscribed Bombay, 1828 written in centre. (Pr. 336). FDC. Extremely Rare. It is very suggestive that the star and garter is an adaptation of some military badge or insignia of the Bombay Artillery.
